Ask your doctor about ways to help you manage your symptoms. He or she may suggest other options, like prescription medicine and:

  • Lifestyle changes. How you sleep and eat may affect your symptoms. Sometimes lifestyle changes can help a lot.

Learn more about healthy sleep habits and nutrition. Or, read up on other ways to help yourself feel better.

  • Extra iron. People with low iron levels may have Restless Legs Syndrome. They’re also likely to have worse symptoms. Your doctor can check your iron levels with a blood test. If your iron levels are low, he or she may suggest that you take iron. So, follow your doctor’s advice.

Alternatives

Always talk with your doctor before using any alternative treatment. Like any medicine, some herbs, minerals, and other supplements can interact with drugs or foods and produce side effects. Just because something is natural does not mean that it is safe.
