Many men with an enlarged prostate dont have any signs or symptoms. But, if you have an enlarged prostate, you may:
- Have a weak urine stream that may start and stop.
- Urinate more often.
- Get out of bed a few times at night to urinate.
- Have trouble starting to urinate.
- Only urinate a little bit each time you go to the bathroom.
- Leak or dribble urine after going to the bathroom.
- Feel like you still have to urinate, even after youve gone to the bathroom.
- Feel a strong, sudden urge to urinate.
- See a little blood in your urine.
These symptoms can also be signs of more serious problems. Dont ignore them. See your doctor. Men over age 50 should have prostate exams every year, whether they have symptoms or not.
Other conditions
An enlarged prostate can cause other problems. Sometimes, it can cause urinary tract infections. In rare cases, it can cause more serious problems like kidney damage.
