Regular doctor’s visits are key if you have an enlarged prostate. He or she needs to know about any changes in symptoms. If you’re taking medicine, he or she will want to know how it’s working or if it’s causing side effects. If your symptoms get worse, you may need a new approach.

Tell your doctor about any:

  • Changes in your symptoms

  • New symptoms, like pain

  • Side effects from medicines

  • Sexual problems, like low sex drive or trouble having an erection

Download the 1on1health® Your Next Appointment form (PDF Format) to prepare for your next visit.

Take an active role in your treatment. You may feel embarrassed talking about your enlarged prostate. But you have to be honest with your doctor. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Most men get an enlarged prostate sooner or later.
