Many medical conditions run in families. High blood pressure is one of them. That’s why it’s good to know the medical histories of your family members.

Make a chart of your family’s medical history. The chart is like a family tree. It lists your relatives, but it focuses on their health. It should include close relatives (parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles) and their medical conditions. This will make it easier to spot any conditions that run in your family.

To make your chart, fill out the 1on1health Family History Chart (PDF Format). Keep it up-to-date. Discuss it with your doctor at your next office visit.
