Take charge of your health 1 step at a time.

High cholesterol puts your health at risk. It can cause heart disease and heart attacks. Heart disease is the number one killer in the US.

Many people don’t know that their cholesterol is high. Your doctor can check your cholesterol levels with a blood test. If your cholesterol is high, he or she may tell you to make lifestyle changes and, possibly, take medicine.

Work with your doctor to manage your cholesterol. You can do it with diet, exercise, weight loss, and medicines, if needed. This booklet will help you learn about high cholesterol and how to manage it.
