Carol-Lee:
“If I had any one thing to say to a person whos newly diagnosed and really upset about it, is this is not the center of your life.
“Your life is not over. You will learn to put this in perspective. Life will go on. Yes, someone will love you. I know one person who went to the doctor and says nobodys gonna love me now. No, thats not true. Someone will love you. Youre just the same person you were before this happened.
“Youre not damaged goods. Youre not a pariah. This is not gonna kill you and it.... And, for many people, theyve come in and said this was a real wake-up call for me. Oh, this could have been a lot worse. I could have gotten something a lot worse than this.
“A lot of times, someone newly diagnosed.... That doesnt really help to know it could get a lot worse. They think this is really bad as it is. It will get better. You will learn to live with it and it wont become the center of your life, and do not allow it to be the center of your life.”
