Shannon:
“If somebody rejects you because you have herpes, they’re not rejecting you; they’re rejecting the virus which is hard to... which is easy to say and hard to take to heart.

“But the other thing is just, you know, you aren’t herpes. You have a virus. Someone who, you know, has heart failure isn’t a heart attack, they’re still a person. They just have heart failure. So anyone who has cancer isn’t cancer. They have cancer, but they are still who they are. It’s the same thing.

“You have herpes, but it’s not who you are. And that I think is really the most important thing and that there’s nothing wrong with you.

“That’s a really key piece is there is absolutely nothing wrong with you because you have herpes. A lot of people have it. It’s just that you also now have it.”
