You may want to talk with your doctor if any of these statements are true for you:

  • I want a better chance of being outbreak-free.

  • My outbreaks annoy and bother me, and I don’t know when my next one will come.

  • My partner doesn’t have herpes. I want to keep it that way.

Your doctor may prescribe daily pills to reduce your chances of an outbreak. This medicine can also make outbreaks shorter and milder.

Or, your doctor may prescribe pills to treat outbreaks when you have them. You take these pills at the first sign of an outbreak.
