Make healthy food choices a habit. With time, eating well will seem like second nature. You’ll also find that food can be tasty.

Share these tips with friends and family. It’s easier to stick to your food plan if your family does. Besides, eating better is good for everyone. If you already have a healthy diet, great work. You’re ahead of the game!

Good nutrition is important

Eating right is one way to help you take charge of your health. For example:

  • Cut out salty foods. This can keep you from holding on to extra water. This may ease some of the strain on your heart.

  • Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and fewer fatty foods. This will help you lose or keep to your weight.

  • Healthy foods will give you more energy.

Eating right can mean thinking about how you shop for food, cook, and eat at restaurants. If you have questions about your diet, talk with your doctor. He or she may refer you to a dietitian.
