Take charge of your health 1 step at a time.

Anyone can get the flu. Most people who get the flu get better in a week or two. But, for some, problems from the flu can be serious. Those most likely to have the worst flu effects are:

  • Young children
  • People age 65 or older
  • People with health problems

The flu can make health problems that you have worse. These include heart and lung diseases.

The best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu shot each year. This booklet answers many common questions about the flu and flu shots. You’ll learn how to help protect yourself and others from getting the virus. You’ll also learn what to do if you get the flu.
