If you’re concerned about your erections, talk with your doctor. Your health can affect your erections. And, conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes can affect both your overall and sexual health.

If you’re worried about speaking with a doctor, remember that:

  • You’re not the first man to discuss erection quality with him or her.

  • You can find out if something is affecting your erections. You can learn about things that might improve their quality. It’s worth making the effort to have better erections and understand your health better.

  • There are treatment options for men with erection difficulties.

Make the call

If you’re worried about what to tell the doctor’s staff, ask for a check-up. If they want details, say you prefer to talk with your doctor. They should not ask more questions.

Bring up the changes in your erectile function at the start of the visit. Don’t wait until the end of the visit.

Once you bring up the topic, your doctor may ask you some questions. He or she may want to run some tests. Then he or she will choose the best treatment for you.
