It’s not uncommon to have a change in your erections at times. You may have:

  • Trouble getting or keeping erections

  • Erections not firm enough for sex

  • Erections hard enough for sex, but weaker than before

  • Less confidence about getting and/or keeping an erection

It may be due to feeling tired, being stressed, or drinking too much alcohol. But if it happens often, even if it doesn’t happen every time you want to have sex, talk with your doctor. Erection difficulties can be a sign of another health problem.

Different degrees

There are different degrees of erection difficulties. Not every man has the same symptoms. You may find that:

  • Your erections aren’t as hard as they once were.

  • It takes longer to get an erection.

  • You can’t get an erection.

  • You don’t perform as well as you used to.

No matter what the degree of symptoms, there are treatment options for most men.

Talk with your doctor—your best source for health information.
