Nebulizers make a mist of medicine that you breathe into your airways. The mist comes through a mask that fits over your nose and mouth, or through a tube that you put into your mouth.

Nebulizers are good for people who can’t use an inhaler, including those who are very ill.

For best results, follow the instructions that came with your nebulizer. If you have questions, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. For tips on using these devices, see How To Use A Nebulizer.

Also of Interest

If your doctor recommends a nebulizer, include the instructions in your Asthma Action Plan.
